V for Vendetta

Action thriller based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and David Lloyd about the mysterious V and his fight against 'the regime'. In the distant (?) future, England has become a totalitarian state. Young Evey (Natalie Portman) is saved from death by a masked man (Hugo Weaving), who is known as "V". This charismatic but dangerous master of ruse and deception ignites a revolution after blowing up two historic monuments in London and taking over the government-controlled media channels. V calls on the citizens to rise up against the tyranny and oppression of this reign of terror. *V for Vendetta* is based on the comic book of the same name by writer Alan Moore and illustrator David Lloyd, which was released as a ten-part series by DC Comics in 1988. The brothers Andy and Larry Wachowski, creators and directors of the Matrix trilogy, adapted the comic into a film script. Their former assistant director James McTiegue makes his directorial debut with 'V for Vendetta'. Starring roles are for the Australian actor Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman.
