Utopia Orchestra

The Utopia Orchestra is an international festival orchestra founded by conductor Teodor Currentzis. The ensemble consists of top musicians from dozens of countries and collaborates on projects for in-depth performances of classical repertoire. Utopia is independent, idealistic and searches for the essence of music through intensive preparation and artistic freedom. Since 2022 it has been playing at leading stages in Europe and has been a resident at the Berlin Funkhaus since 2023.

Teodor Currentzis

Teodor Currentzis is the founder and artistic director of the Utopia Orchestra, and musical director of musicAeterna. He was principal conductor of the SWR Symphony Orchestra (2018–2024) and is known for his radical, expressive performances of classical repertoire. As an opera conductor, he has worked with leading houses such as the Opéra de Paris and La Scala. His recordings, including those for Sony Classical and his new label Theta, have won international awards.
