Turning Towards de Huidenclub

In a chaotic world, humans strive for control and understanding, yet are repeatedly disappointed. The exhibition "Turning Towards" reveals this fundamental human paradox: control seems pleasant, until the creative power of chaos is lost.

From March 27 to May 3, 2026, curators and artists Yoram Yutte and Lisa Meijer will present the exhibition Turning Towards at Studio 2, de Doelen Art, featuring Mean Collection, Lissa Gasparotto, Mar Gimeno Lumbiarres, Dineke van Huizen, and Manon Malan.

Control provides structure in a world that is unpredictable and beyond our comprehension. Through systems, rules, and stories, we attempt to organize our experiences and give meaning to what surrounds us and what happens within us. Yet, control is never definitive. There are forces that defy prediction and control. Moments of loss and transformation expose the transience of order.

In Turning Towards, the artists explore various ways of relating to this vulnerability. The works depict surrender, disruption, and disorganization, revealing the tension between intention and unpredictability, structure and chaos. Rather than approaching chaos as destruction, it is presented as a generative condition from which new forms can emerge.

Within this space, the unknown is presented not as something to be solved, but as something to be experienced. Turning Towards doesn't offer answers, but rather draws attention to the realization that being human encompasses more than what language can capture. It points to the intuition that we are part of something larger, something that can be cosmic, relational, or even spiritual in nature.
