An exciting musical exploration of city life with FONOS vocal ensemble and Eric Koevoets on organ.
At 'The sound of the cities – MultipliCity' on Friday 13 June in the Sint-Lambertuskerk, the young vocal ensemble FONOS and organist Eric Koevoets explore city life in sound – from the bustle of 16th-century Paris to visions of the heavenly Jerusalem. Voice and Maarschalkerweerd organ meet in a colourful programme full of vocal and instrumental variety.
You will hear, among other things, Jannequin's 'Le cris de Paris', music around the cathedral of Florence, Sweelinck as city organist of Amsterdam and visionary works by Augistinas, Howells and Tournemire. Koevoets' own composition, in memory of the bombardment of Rotterdam, is poignant, next to new work, inspired by Rotterdam by the young composer Sophia Bardoutsou.
