An unlikely love story

In 1975, young Indian PK falls in love with Swedish Lotta. When she returns home, he gets on a second-hand bicycle for a journey of more than 10,000 kilometres to find her again. This adventure takes him through unknown countries, over mountain passes and through vast landscapes, where he is repeatedly dependent on the kindness of strangers. PK is a Dalit, formerly known as an 'untouchable', born at the bottom of India's caste system and destined for a life of poverty and exclusion. Yet, at his birth, an astrologer makes a remarkable prediction about his future love.

A journey full of human kindness

When PK meets Lotta in New Delhi, the prediction seems to come true. But when she does not keep her promise to visit him again, he begins to doubt. Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel brings this true story to life by recreating the journey with PK and a young actor who plays his younger self.
