The Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam (WFFR) annually screens the most beautiful and impactful films about nature, both domestically and internationally. This event will also take place at Art Studio Hoogvliet.
The special WFFR Lokaal program screens a selection of films at 21 unique locations throughout Rotterdam. Many of our local locations also organize additional activities related to the film. This way, we bring nature closer to everyone!
The Coriolis Effect
On the dry, windswept islands of Cape Verde—birthplace of the world's most powerful hurricanes—The Coriolis Effect follows the people and animals struggling to survive. Climate change intensifies the storms, but instead of despair, the film reveals a deep-seated life force. A turtle struggles through plastic, a fisherman gets lost, volunteers clear trash, and a naturalist rescues injured animals. All life here is equally precious. "We are ungrateful guests," says composer Vasco Martins, "but we love the earth and don't want to leave it." A poetic ode to resilience, connection, and the search for hope in times of crisis.
