Tentoonstelling Schiebroek, van tuinstad tot wederopbouwwijk

Thanks to its abundance of greenery, Tuinstad Schiebroek is more expansive than the average inner-city neighborhood. The neighborhood experienced unprecedented growth after the war and consists largely of post-war architecture.

The district has a number of characteristic buildings, including the Castagnet (now the Buurvrouw), the Goede Herderkerk (Good Shepherd Church), the Pauluskerk (St. Paul's Church), the Fatima School and Melanchthon School, the former Sunrise lemonade factory and the pleasant shopping street Peppelweg.

Yet, the average Rotterdam resident has little to no knowledge of the neighborhood. With the free exhibition at the Lusthof allotment garden association, you can change that!

Discover the history of Schiebroek in twelve colorful panels. Explore the Wilgenplas lake, the drilling rig, the many houses, churches, schools, and retirement homes, as well as the culture with unique Schiebroek residents like Olga Lowina and the Hovinga brothers, and the art in the neighborhood.

Afterwards you can of course visit the garden and take home an informative folder with photos, interesting facts and a map.
