Sunday, October 12: Cape Verdean Sodade
The series kicks off with Nando & Francis Da Silva, a unique Cape Verdean duo.
• Nando Da Silva (1956, Santo Antão) moved to the Netherlands at a young age. In addition to his work as a glass artist, music has always remained his great passion. He has played with greats such as Cesaria Evora, Ildo Lobo, and Bana, and brings traditional styles such as Funaná, Morna, Coladera, and Batuco to life with his guitar.
• Francis Da Silva (1961, São Vicente) discovered her talent for singing and dancing at the age of 12. She has performed with various bands at home and abroad and moves effortlessly between soul, Caribbean, R&B, jazz, and Cape Verdean music. With a touch of jazz, she gives Cape Verdean music a cheerful and inviting twist.
Workshops: painting happy stones with Mieke Abelman and making an exciting Halloween lamp with Miss Eve.
Upcoming editions:
Sunday, November 9: Turkish Delight - Turkish music by Duo Megan Davis, henna painting and calligraphy workshops.
Sunday, December 14 Winter Festival Special: Swinging Caribbean - Festive finale with Mok the One Man Band, various creative workshops for young and old, an open stage, delicious food, and much more!
