Sinfonia Rotterdam Ode to Joy
With more than 120 musicians and singers, Sinfonia Rotterdam, led by Conrad van Alphen, fills the hall with Beethoven's iconic Ninth Symphony.
His 'Ode to Joy', the anthem of the European Union since 1972, sounds like a relevant and lasting call for freedom, peace and unity.
The evening opens festively with Maessens sparkling Christmas Carol Suite, followed by Mendelssohns compelling Violin Concerto, in which lyricism and virtuosity merge. A concert full of passion and grandeur, in which music brings people together.
