Rebetikon was founded in 2016 in Cologne, Germany, by a group of passionate musicians with a shared passion: to convey the authentic sound and soul of Rebetiko – also known as the Greek blues.

Driven by a deep need to bring the musical tradition of Rebetiko life (early 20th century in Greece and Asia Minor) to life, Rebetikon consciously chooses the original style of composing and performing. With simplicity, dedication and respect, the group brings the raw emotion and timeless melodies of this music back to the stage – almost 100 years after its creation.
