Queer Oriental Rotterdam Vol.5
Queer Oriental Rotterdam is a cultural queer meeting and entertainment event organized by Stichting Sirkaf. The event offers a platform for cultural exchange with music, dance, and stage performances inspired by motifs from Turkey, Mesopotamia, and Southwest Asia – in colonial terminology, the Middle East.
Under the name Queer Oriental, we aim to highlight the presence of queer communities in Turkey, Mesopotamia, and Southwest Asia, and draw attention to their struggle for rights and equality. This event also honors the culture, entertainment, and Oriental dance traditions from these regions, bringing that cultural heritage here to connect it with the local queer community.
Our goal is to create a safe place where the LGBTQIA+ community can come together to socialize, enjoy themselves, and build new friendships and connections.
Queer Oriental Rotterdam is a straight-friendly event.
