Wimbledon is coming. Our Bosnian-Dutch title favorite Viktor is refused because of a looming Balkan war. While Viktor lives only for tennis, he unwillingly becomes a plaything of politics.
There is no sport where mental pressure can be as high as in tennis. The points system is designed in such a way that the pressure continues to mount, even when you are well ahead. Just like the criticism Novak Đoković often has to endure, Viktor is also expected to conform to the expectations of the Western public and media.
In addition to the cultural differences between his native country and the Netherlands, the endless traveling from tournament to tournament is starting to take its toll and the tennis player no longer feels truly at home anywhere. He has trained his entire life to win Grand Slams, but no one has prepared him for the merciless services of the press, politics and public.
