Peel the Power
Makerspace for potato growers, tinkerers, and planters
Are you burned out, in a rut, feeling like a tiny sprout among the jacket potatoes, or have you been rooting in the back of the cupboard for months? Warm up at Peel the Power and sprout your power. Together we come up with slogans, print banners, and build renewable huts, cozy cocoons, or beautiful paper cones. That is how we work on a Political Party for Potatoes and Other Kinds.
Politics often seems distant, driven by clever, loudmouthed smooth talkers who can't stand up to ordinary people. Yet everyone is capable of taking up space, organizing, and standing for something: practical politics that arises from making. The potato—neither fruit nor vegetable—represents a politics from the bottom up.
Together we stand up against the rigid stampers, the boring sorters, and the despicable peelers who are destroying the life we love. Come peel and chill, make underground connections, and discover how much power lies beneath the surface.
For fourteen weeks, from Thursday through Sunday, there is always someone working and there is always room to join in. There are contributions from, among others, Brooderhood, the giveaway shop Delen is Helen, Kate Price, Kunstlab+buren, mul-thee-fuhngk-shuh-nl, Placeholder, Pottentuin aan de Cool, ROTS, Sunflower Soup, and Wildcard Community.
Bring your children, your neighbors, your friends, or come alone and meet other potatoers on the spot.
