New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra

LantarenVenster and New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra are joining forces. For four years, the adventurous orchestra has been a regular at LantarenVenster, presenting projects developed within our walls. Expect live music that will blow you away, surprise you, and take you to another world! This is New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra - Neighbors edition #2.

You are always someone's neighbor. Through a chain of neighbors, you are connected to the whole world.

With Neighbors, the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra invites special musicians for a boundary-pushing musical adventure. Iranian singer and string player Reza Mirjalali and Italian organetto player Simone Bottasso started their duo Neighbors ten years ago in Rotterdam-West. Now, their musical encounter is growing into a collaboration with a full jazz orchestra. Boom! Together with Laia Escartin (viola, vocals), Lauriane Ghils (percussion, kamale ngoni, vocals), and Tarang Poddar (tabla, vocals), a colorful mix of jazz, Persian classical music, Italian folk music, and compelling grooves is created. Expect a surprising journey in which rhythms, melodies, and musical traditions merge. From intimate moments to overwhelming orchestral sounds: Neighbors celebrates the power of meeting and connection, just like in the versatile city of Rotterdam. Come celebrate the old and the new year together with New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. And be sure to bring your neighbors!
