The festive opening of the Buurtuin is the perfect moment for a musical performance by Basement Five, an eight-piece jazz band led by Ruud Bergamin. The band consists of five saxophonists and a rhythm section of three musicians, all with a passion for swinging jazz. The saxophonists are former students of Bergamin and together they bring well-known jazz standards to life in fresh, self-written arrangements. In the relaxed, green atmosphere of the allotment garden, visitors can enjoy improvisation and musicianship. The Buurtuin is not only a place to listen, but also to walk, discover and get in touch with neighbours. This social initiative offers space for meeting and gardening together at fixed times during the week.
