Ambrosiusgilde Rotterdam organises National Open Beekeeping Day on July 12, 2025

The Ambrosiusgilde Rotterdam will organise the National Open Beekeeping Day on Saturday 12 July 2025. The educational bee stand on the Nesseweg in Rotterdam-Zevenhuizen (near the Nessebos) will then be open to the public from 10:00 to 16:00.

Visitors can enjoy the blooming flower garden, get guided tours past bee hives and observe bees in a viewing hive. There are also youth activities such as candle-making from beeswax and building a bee hotel or birdhouse. Products such as honey and mead are for sale, and there are honey snacks to accompany coffee or tea.

There will also be information on bee-friendly gardening and the possibility of adopting a hive. Beekeepers will talk about beekeeping courses. The day also highlights the importance of bees for nature and biodiversity and the threats they face, such as the Varroa mite and the Asian Hornet.

The festive National Open Beekeeping Day is on 12 July from 10:00-16:00 at Nesseweg (no number), between Rotterdam-Ommoord and Zevenhuizerplas. Coming by public transport? Get off at metro stop Hesseplaats and you can walk to Nesseweg in 15 minutes.
