Landelijke Open Imkerijdag Ambrosiusgilde Rotterdam

Guided tours of the apiary are organized in small groups throughout the day, where you will learn everything about the interesting world of the honey bee. Through the window of the observation hive you can see up close how a bee colony lives in a beehive and with a bit of luck you will find the queen! In addition to bees, would you also like to know more about bumblebees? There will also be some bumblebee colonies to admire.

Various fun activities are organized especially for young people, including taking photos in beekeeping equipment. Come and make your own beeswax candles using various techniques such as dipping or pouring. There are demonstrations of various crafts, such as basket weaving and clog making.

Admire the beautiful flower garden full of blooming beekeeping plants. There is a nameplate next to each plant species. Enjoy fresh and traditionally baked honey snacks together with a cup of coffee or tea. Various bee products are available, such as honey and mead, the oldest drink in the world, with the taste of honey and flowers.

Get started yourself and learn how to create a nice shelter or nesting place for the wild bees in your area. Take a photo with yourself or your kids in beekeeping gear. There are all kinds of plants for sale that bees love.

Adopt a bee colony for a year. In exchange you will receive two pots of honey from your people and you can come and admire your people at the apiary. Control can be done in an environmentally friendly way and you help ensure a healthy bee population. We'll tell you all about it. You can train to become a beekeeper at the Ambrose Guild.
