Kom je bij ons eten?
Every month, the Rotterdams Wijktheater organises a warm storytelling dinner, where personal life stories, a delicious three-course dinner and special encounters come together at Aan het Water.
From a small mountain village in China to the bustling city of Rotterdam. During this special storytelling dinner, the life story of Ching (60) takes centre stage. Ching grew up in a village where doors were always open, families lived together and everyone was there for each other. As a thirteen-year-old, he swapped the mountains of China for the Netherlands, in search of a future full of freedom and new opportunities. But building a new life proved not to be easy. A long search followed, through loneliness, mental vulnerability and the struggle to understand and accept himself. A story about trial and error, resilience and ultimately finding peace and forgiveness. Now, 47 years later, Ching looks back with different eyes. What does freedom actually mean? Where do you truly feel at home? And how important are the people around you? During this evening, we will take you into Ching's life story, with poetic and musical accompaniment by Ching himself and Michael van de Transformers Band. Enjoy a free three-course dinner, where the story forms the common thread and there is plenty of room for meeting others and having beautiful conversations at the table. Pull up a chair, listen, taste and share your story!
