Johnny Dowd is an American singer-songwriter known for his unique blend of alt-country, blues, and gothic rock. His style is raw, poetic, and unpredictable. He sings about ordinary people with strange lives, with lyrics full of dark humor and absurd observations. Think of a cross between Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Captain Beefheart, but with a quirky, almost punkish slant.

His niche music strikes a chord with listeners all over the world. And artists like Jim White, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Lucky Fonz III and Tim Knol are also fans of his originality, quality of songwriting and the purity of his singing. Dutch stages like Paradiso, Tivoli and Lowlands are no strangers to him.
