FOOD - Circusstad Festival

Austrian creator Michael Zandl, known for his successful Sawdust Symphony, returns to Circusstad Festival with FOOD: a surprising and humorous performance about our endless hunger for more. Four young circus artists, Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler, and Karin Brodén, all graduates of Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam, take you into an absurd world of food excess.

In a mix of acrobatics, object manipulation, illusions, and everything edible, FOOD exposes our urge to consume in a comical and confrontational way. An everyday activity such as eating derails on stage into an almost obsessive ritual of piling up, stuffing, and swallowing until “enough” no longer exists. The performance is a playful mirror of the commercial temptation we all face.

With FOOD, Michael Zandl once again delivers a unique performance that is not to be missed. Surrealism at its best in this disturbingly delicious circus experience that lingers long after the last bite has been taken.
