Colombia Migrante Film Festival Rotterdam: Dreamed Territories, Imagining to Heal

The Colombia Migrante Film Festival uses film to create space for memory. The films tell the stories of Colombians who had to leave their homes for another region or the other side of the world. The fifth edition, Gedroomde Territoria, is coming to the Netherlands for the first time. Ten years after the peace agreement, the festival opens a dialogue between Colombia and its diaspora, based on the idea that imagining and dreaming are necessary to build peace. The programme In the short film Estamos en el mapa (Dutch premiere), residents of the La Estrella neighbourhood in Bogotá reminisce together about how they built their neighbourhood with their own hands. The documentary Andariega follows Chena, a young single mother who travels as a seasonal worker from harvest to harvest through the Colombian mountains to pick coffee. An intimate portrait, far from the romanticised images of coffee country. Both films are in Spanish with English subtitles.
