The Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam (WFFR) annually screens the most beautiful and impactful films about nature, both domestically and internationally. The special WFFR Local program screens a selection of films at 21 unique locations throughout Rotterdam. In addition, many of our local locations organize additional activities related to the film. This way, we bring nature closer to everyone!
Bird researcher Seán Ronayne is on a unique mission: to record the sounds of every bird species in Ireland—nearly 200 in total. He and his partner Alba travel to remote locations like Skellig Michael, the Burren, Tory Island, and the hills of Donegal to record rare sounds and bird calls. Seán's hypersensitivity to sound is both a challenge and a gift. His story is one of dedication, attentive listening, and the fragile bond between humans and nature. An inspiring and moving film about what sound can tell us—and what we risk losing if we don't listen. A short theater performance will follow the film!
