Birdsong - WFFR Lokaal

Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam (WFFR) annually shows the most beautiful and impactful films about nature from home and abroad. With the special program WFFR Lokaal, a selection of films is shown at 21 special locations, spread throughout Rotterdam. In addition, extra activities are organized around the film at many of our local locations. In this way, we bring nature closer to everyone!

Bird researcher Seán Ronayne is on a singular mission: to record the sounds of every bird species in Ireland - almost 200 in total. Together with his partner Alba, he travels to remote locations such as Skellig Michael, the Burren, Tory Island and the hills of Donegal to record rare sounds and bird calls. Seán's hypersensitivity to sound is both a challenge and a gift. His is a story of dedication, attentive listening and the fragile bond between man and nature. An inspiring and moving film about what sound can tell us - and what we risk losing if we don't listen.
