Berlage Saxophone Quartet met Vincent Bijloo Kamermuziekvereeniging
Chamber music association.
Comedian and writer Vincent Bijlo is the great-grandson of HP Berlage.
Bijlo has inherited Berlage's idea that art should say something about the world we live in. The Berlage Saxophone Quartet has too. Both parties are joining forces for a new production that reflects on the ideals of then and now.
What is the situation with “humanity”? In 1915, in the middle of the First World War, Berlage sketched a beautiful Pantheon to unite humanity. Unfortunately, it was never built. What if we were to build this Pantheon now? Would there be brotherhood then? Or what if the pantheon had existed decades ago, would there not be current wars?
With music by Bach, Debussy & Roukens, spoken text by Vincent Bijlo and visuals by Jurjen Alkema, the Pantheon will rise on stage, thereby drawing attention to and reflecting on the role of art in society.
