An Evening With The Blues

\ean 'Mack' Donald This year Sean 'Mack' Donald is coming to LantarenVenster after all! This sensational young singer (22) and guitarist from Augusta, Georgia, carries the future of the blues within him. Sean could be found behind the drums and the piano at an early age. The guitar followed at the age of seven. His first hero was Robert Johnson, T-Bone Walker and the three Kings, Muddy Waters and Little Walter would follow. As with so many musicians, the seed of his career lies in a musical family and in the church. “My father played jazz music around the house to keep me calm as a baby, so I always had an affinity for music.” At the age of fifteen he was noticed when he tested a guitar in the local music store. He played a breathtaking version of Robert Johnson's 'Dust my Broom'. In the meantime, Mack has developed his own style and sound, clearly influenced by the old blues masters. He is blessed with a beautiful voice and is already regarded as one of the best blues musicians of the new generation.

His love for the blues is inspired by BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy. SaRon Crenshaw plays a Gibson Lucille guitar, which is personally signed by BB King.

JJ Thames JJ Thames was born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, where she became familiar with the Motown sound, as well as the sound of urban blues. At age 17, her family moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she was fully immersed in the deep, soulful Southern Blues. She found her way in the local music community and developed her own sound. Without a job or money, she moved to New York City and fell into the doldrums. She lived in shelters in the Bronx and had little hope for a better future. What JJ Thames did have, however, was an extraordinary talent as a singer. Back in Mississippi, she found her home base and turned her life experience into music. Thames is now a well-known diva in the soul and blues scene. She has released several albums and spreads a message of perseverance through her music and performances.
