Amsterdam Sinfonietta and Ray Chen Devil Strings
Giuseppe Tartini and Pietro Locatelli are considered the founders of modern violin virtuosity.
Locatelli's Concerto Grosso in C minor combines elegance with sparkling orchestral solos, while Tartini's famous Devil's Trill Sonata found its inspiration in a dream in which the devil himself played the violin.
The program opens with Bartók's Divertimento for string orchestra, a dynamic work imbued with folk music influences. Finally, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, together with Ray Chen, will perform Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires in an arrangement by Leonid Desyatnikov, in which Vivaldi's earlier composition subtly resonates.
