Waterfront reopens briefly for two special cub nights
After previously announcing that Left of the Dial had managed to get Waterfront back open as a stage for the festival for a while, Rotown announces that two club nights will also take place at the nostalgic venue. Left of the Dial is already completely sold out. But tickets for NO BARRIER on 24 October and The Guilty Pleasure Dome on 25 October are on sale now.
NO BARRIER is full of punk, hardcore and metalcore. Raw, energetic and uncompromising, exactly how it once felt at Waterfront. The Guilty Pleasure Dome is a night of hits, sing-alongs and irresistible dancefloor seduction. From 90's classics to guilty pleasures of today, all spun by the local heroes of The Forever27Club.
A merger of the older organisations De Vlerk and Via Ritmo, Waterfront opened its doors in 2000 and quickly grew into one of the Netherlands' leading alternative music venues. The venue was known for its intimate atmosphere, legendary concerts and an unmistakable character of its own. Acts such as Jay Reatard, Enter Shikari, Wanda Jackson, Frank Black (lead singer of Pixies) and countless Dutch acts took the stage there.
In 2011, Waterfront closed its doors for good, but its name lives on in the memories of thousands of music lovers. The closure also had consequences for the municipality. Irregularities in billing and supervision arose in the operation and refurbishment of Waterfront, leading to financial losses and a lengthy civil settlement.
With the two-day reopening, Rotown pays tribute to that rich past and to the generations of Rotterdammers who experienced their first moshpit, concert or nocturnal dance here.
