Dancers from around the world at International Dance League
International Dance League is a platform that brings together the international urban dance world in Rotterdam. World-class and emerging talent share the stage in a unique festival focusing on artistic excellence, talent development and community-building. From 23 to 26 October, Theater Rotterdam will again be dedicated to groundbreaking hip-hop and street dance. Tickets are available via this link.
This edition features a Renewed festival concept. For adults, the programme revolves entirely around individual 1VS1 battles in four styles: Hiphop, House, Krump and Popping as well as the spectacular 2VS2 Open Styles battle. In which judges compete against selected duos from all over the world.
For children, the Teenage League remains the beating heart of talent development. The teams, this year expanded from five to seven dancers, prepare for weeks in residencies under the guidance of experienced captains. During the festival, they compete for the coveted IDL Awards with both showcases and battles.
IDL thus offers an inclusive experience full of energy, authenticity and expression. With additional programmes such as showcases, parties, talks and jams, it evolves into a more complete dance festival, a place to meet, connect and grow together.
Melting pot of styles, stories and traditions
Leal van Herwaarden, founder and managing director of IDL, stresses the importance of connection: "We want to make dance accessible to everyone, from professionals to curious visitors. Young talents grow in a residency under the guidance of international mentors, while established artists take on new creative challenges. Uniting international programming and local roots creates a melting pot of styles, stories and traditions in Rotterdam. We connect art and industry. IDL is a showcase, network and business platform for a thriving dance scene."
