Yong Yello

We of course know the Antwerp rapper from tracks like Als Ge Slaapt, Cirkels, Waanzin, and Luchtkasteel. With his debut Marcel & Het Magnetisme Van De Goot, he firmly established himself, and since then he has performed on just about every major stage that matters. But sitting still? Yello doesn't really do that.

On his new album Bennie & De Banaliteit Van Ons Bestaan, he once again dives deep into the mind of his character. Bennie wants it all: a career, making money, a flashy car parked outside, and, above all, not standing still. However, it turns out that having 'more' is not automatically the same as being happy. And that is precisely where it gets interesting.

Yong Yello makes music that hits the dance floor just as easily as it enters your head. Hip-hop, soul, funk, French sixties, and Latin fly together, while Yello tells a story with sharp lyrics and a healthy dose of self-mockery that hits surprisingly close to home.

So yes: good beats, strong stories, and enough moments to move along and think along.
