Unique and seen and experienced for the first time outside Japan: the traditional utensils and tea ceremony for sencha, the well-known green tea that is drunk daily in Japan.
Senchado is the tradition of the green tea ceremony, which originated in 18th century Japan alongside the traditional tea ceremony with macha (chanoyu). For the first time, it can now be seen and experienced outside Japan: in an exhibition of the legacy of one of the grand masters, and during 3 unique tea gatherings led by Sylvie Guichard-Anguis sensei from Paris. The exhibition includes utensils, furniture and accessories by Shimasaki Kison Tonei (1850–1932), the 6th grand master of Baisa Hon Ryu and founder of Sho Fu Ryu senchado. You can reserve a place for the 3 senchado gatherings. Both events are free of charge and are part of the 20th anniversary program of the Japanese cultural center Shōfūkan in Rotterdam.
