Photographer Ruud Sies and creative producer Hanneke van Hintum have been visiting farmers, market gardeners, and thinkers all over the world since 2017. They have already collected more than 120 personal stories from 22 different countries. Ruud Sies takes us into the lives of several agri-chefs: farmers who are also chefs. Who are they? What do they do, and what does this mean? Local initiatives such as the Bakkerswerkplaats share their experiences, and there are practical tips on what we can 'do ourselves'. Above all, we share a three-course meal from the People's Kitchen at Verhalenhuis Belvédère. The Bakkerswerkplaats provides the bread for the starter, our guest chef Wei Tong (Malaysia/Rotterdam) the vegetarian main course, and Merel Nolet from Oogstatelier the dessert. Merel prefers to tell the stories of farmers and growers at the table to raise awareness about the journey food takes before it ends up on your plate.
