Growing up in a large Surinamese family with Portuguese, Chinese, Indian and Creole roots, it was predestined that all these influences would also shape his music. The hip-hop artist has left his mark on the Dutch music landscape in recent years with his vulnerable lyrics about social problems and stirring beats. He scored big hits with songs such as 'Zandloper', 'Surfen' and 'Hemel Falls'. After his second album 'Lobi Da Basi' the real success started. Typhoon toured major cities and starred at festivals such as Lowlands, Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz. In 2015, Typhoon was the house band of De Wereld Draait Door and received two prestigious Edisons (Best Album and Hip Hop Artist). At the beginning of November, Typhoon released a brand new album 'Twintig', in honor of his twenty-year anniversary on stage.
