Tuschinskifestival
Little C is buzzing during the Tuschinski Festival! For young and old, in the spirit of Tuschinski's credo: "Nothing is impossible". Music, art, a children's program, and a residents' market with food and drinks.
The Tuschinski Festival celebrates the rich history of the namesakes of the Little C neighborhood: the Jewish (cultural) entrepreneurs Abraham Icek Tuschinski, Karl Weisbard, and Samuel Soesman.
On Saturday, September 12, one of Little C's green courtyards transforms into the beating heart of the festival: a free daytime program for young and old, featuring a djembe workshop for children and continuous concerts on two stages, ranging from local jazz talent from Codarts Rotterdam to international headliners such as Saskia Laroo, Hoss Project, and Bonsai Panda. There is also a residents' market where local residents offer their own food, drinks, and art.
The festival opens on Friday evening at Galerie Weisbard, amidst the Polaroid exhibition by artist-in-residence Wilfried de Jong, who performs together with top saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis on both Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sunday, a surprising finale will be heard at De Machinist, featuring the new Hammond trio of guitarist Anton Goudsmit.
The festival is organized by the Tuschinski Rotterdam Foundation, together with volunteers, local residents, and cultural partners such as Galerie Weisbard, the Gillespie Foundation, and Codarts Rotterdam. Entirely in the spirit of Tuschinski's credo "Nothing is impossible," the festival brings together culture, heritage, and community in one of the most beautiful places in Rotterdam.
