Whitley has been moving between worlds, musically and personally, for years.
Her new album Folded Time feels like the next step in that process: a record about loss, change, and reframing everything in between. About motherhood, identity, and how they shift your view of the world.
Growing up between New York and Belgium, and the daughter of singer-songwriter Chris Whitley, music has always been central. From drums at a young age to DJ sets in Berlin and tours with Black Dub, her path is anything but linear, but always personal.
On Folded Time, Whitley returns to the basics: writing from feeling, without a fixed plan. She plays drums, bass, guitar, and piano herself, building her songs layer by layer. The result is an intense yet open sound, in which vulnerability and strength coexist.
Live, that translates into a set that feels intimate, subdued where possible, powerful where necessary.
