The Wailing 2016
When a remote Korean village is shaken by a series of mysterious, violent incidents, rumors spread faster than the facts. The local police officer Jong-goo just cannot get the case under control.
When his daughter also becomes seriously ill, his concern turns into despair. Is the mysterious stranger who has settled in the village responsible? Or is something much darker going on?
With The Wailing, Na Hong-jin creates an oppressive mix of horror, mystery and black humour, in which nothing is what it seems. As Jong-goo becomes increasingly entangled in the mystery, the viewer is also constantly led astray. Who is telling the truth, who is lying and who can actually still be trusted? A dark, unpredictable film, perfectly fitting into the Mindfuck film series.
