The Silo and Us
The small village of Stubbekøbing lies on the Danish coast. The population is shrinking and there is little to do. A large grain silo, abandoned for years, rises above the houses. A group of artists from Berlin and Copenhagen, led by Danh Vo, sees potential in this concrete structure. With Projekt4850, a space for contemporary art, they aim to revitalize the village.
The power of art in Stubbekøbing
In the Danish village of Stubbekøbing, where the population is declining, stands an abandoned grain silo. Artists from Berlin and Copenhagen, led by Danh Vo, see the potential of this concrete silo. They launch Projekt4850, a center for contemporary art, to breathe new life into the village. However, this initiative brings with it tensions, as the local residents are skeptical of the outsiders' plans.
Discover friction and transformation
Director Carina Randløv humorously depicts the confrontation between the privileged artists and the doubting villagers. Both find it difficult to understand one another. 'The Silo and Us' shows how good intentions and a difficult reality come together. It also highlights the way in which art can bring about change in both places and perspectives.
