Tentoonstelling Precious Planet - Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum

In the greenest museum of Rotterdam, the exhibition Precious Planet by fine art photographer Brenda Vonk Noordegraaf can be seen in June and July. She exhibits her monumental landscapes and colorful still lifes in both the entrance building and garden restaurant Flora. Her artworks show the grandeur, versatility and value of nature. With her art, Brenda wants to create wonder and ecological involvement.

On the one hand, she translates the grandeur of nature into vast and monumental landscapes. These are inspired by the landscapes of Romantic painters and indigenous peoples who live in harmony with nature. In the West, we often put ourselves above nature and forget that we are a part of it and that all life on earth is connected.

On the other hand, she also shows the richness of the earth by zooming in. Beautiful details from nature such as flowers, gemstones and shells are highlighted in her colorful still lifes. These show the power and beauty of nature but also its fragility. She is inspired by the theme of the 17th century Vanitas still life. Just like then, Brenda Vonk Noordegraaf's still lifes are an ode to beauty but they also show the passing of time and transience.
