Sys Willekomen - Middeleeuwse kerstblues

Ensemble Nu:n presents a surprising Advent/Christmas concert in which, based on the beautiful vocals of Cora Schmeiser, medieval Christmas carols are arranged with saxophone and electric and electrically amplified acoustic guitar, followed by dazzling improvisations on the original melodies. Nu:n reconstructs the musical sources of the Christmas celebration with early hymns such as Veni remptor gentium from the fourth century, with Gregorian melodies from the Advent season: Alleluja, Dies santificatus & Conditor alme siderum, and with a number of the very oldest Low German Christmas carols from around 1500: Sei willkommen, Herre Christ, Joseph and Lieber Joseph mein, Nu:n builds a festive Christmas sound universe. The proceeds from this concert will go to the Voedselafgiftepunt Rotterdam-Schiebroek „Every piece became a flood of sound that inundated the concert hall.
