Sunday Filmclub: Wan Pipel
A cosy Sunday Filmclub in the Kantine, this time featuring the classic Wan Pipel on the big screen.
About Wan Pipel Wan Pipel (1976) is the quintessential Surinamese film classic by director Pim de la Parra. The story follows Roy, a young Surinamese man who returns to Paramaribo after completing his studies in the Netherlands. There, he faces a choice between two worlds: his Dutch lover or his Surinamese roots. The film addresses themes such as identity, love, and the search for a new beginning. The film is in Sranan Tongo/Dutch, with English subtitles. Srefidensi The programme is part of the OASE programme surrounding Srefidensi, which celebrates and shares Surinamese freedom and culture through music, food, and togetherness. About OASE's Sunday Filmclub Every Sunday afternoon, we turn OASE’s Kantine into a little cinema of its own. Sink into a sofa, treat yourself to a slice of homemade cake, and settle in for an afternoon of film, with headphones on and plenty of room to relax. Reserve your spot Entry is free, but places are limited, so we recommend booking a ticket in advance. Fancy something to go with the film? You can also book a ticket with a slice of homemade pie and a cup of tea for €8.50.
