Steel Magnolias 1989
In the small town of Chinquapin, Louisiana, the local beauty salon is the place where six women share their joys and sorrows. As they support each other during weddings, family dramas, and other major life events, a close friendship grows that proves resilient against the toughest moments.
At the center is Shelby (Julia Roberts), a young woman with diabetes who is determined to make her own choices, much to the concern of her mother M'Lynn (Sally Field). When Shelby makes a life-changing decision, the women are confronted with the fragility of life and the strength of their friendship.
Steel Magnolias is a warm and moving classic about friendship, family, and resilience, in which humor and sadness go hand in hand.
