Stapelgek is a performance based on the crazy picture book Sjoerd en de Stapelstad by Barry Menger and Mats Ganzeman.
Construction is booming in the city. The grown-ups want more and more, fuller and fuller. So full, in fact, that there is no room left for children to play outside. One of those children, Sjoerd, wants to become an architect when he grows up. But before that happens, he comes up with a crazy plan. The performance is wordless, but filled with lots of (construction) sounds and funny slapstick situations. With blocks and sturdy wooden builders, the actors carry out Sjoerd's exciting and daring plan. A crazy story about building, persevering, holding on, and never giving up.
