Indigo is an imaginative child growing up in boring Zoetermeer. Together with his mother Marianne, Indigo seeks adventure in their rugged Western fantasy world. As soon as they can, they grab their guitar, banjo, and harmonica and concoct the wildest stories. In the deserted town of Sweetwater, everyone looks up to Mary-Ann because of her fearless fight for justice. She also commands respect because she doesn't arrive on horseback, but rides a buffalo. She seems afraid of nothing and no one.

But now that Mary-Ann is gone, Indigo must go on an adventure alone. Indigo struggles through cactus-overgrown desert towns, past unreliable outlaws, and across the vast prairie, with only one goal in mind: to take on the challenge Mary-Ann set. We follow Indigo on a journey through the Wild West, in search of what Mary-Ann left behind for Indigo.

So Long, Sweetwater is a modern western full of music, suspense, and vast plains full of secrets. A moving, but above all hopeful musical theatre performance about searching for stability when someone passes away, learning to let go of what is no more, and the healing power of imagination.

About Het Trojaanse Kalf The company's first production (consisting of Ewout Ganzevoort and Yornik Onstenk) was Max en de Minipiano, a successful show for ages 8+ that performed 130 times over three years for a total of more than 14,000 children and adults.

With So long, Sweetwater, the company continues its mission to create exciting and layered music theatre for a young audience, in which music plays an indispensable role. Together with a formidable team (consisting of musician Wander van Duin, lyricist Elly Scheele, and composer Rik Elings, among others), they hope to win over many young hearts with this production as well.
