Neoclassical from the north - Icelandic Snorri Hallgrímsson brings cinematic atmospheres

Icelandic composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Snorri Hallgrímsson makes music that takes you away - dreamy, layered and emotional. His unique style fuses neoclassical sounds with electronic influences and cinematic atmospheres.

Before signing to the renowned Deutsche Grammophon label, Snorri collaborated with fellow countryman Ólafur Arnalds on projects such as Island Songs and the award-winning BBC series Broadchurch. Meanwhile, he is also making a name for himself with his own film compositions, including the Netflix hit Jaula / The Chalk Line (2022), the award-winning Innocence and the recent Words of War, produced by Sean Penn.

Snorri's music touches without becoming dramatic. Intimate piano melodies, atmospheric strings and subtle electronics combine to form dreamy landscapes in which there is always a glimmer of hope. At his concert in de Doelen, he will be joined by a string trio - a perfect setting for an evening of understated power and cinematic beauty.
