Four expedition members brave the harsh weather conditions in Tibet in the hope of spotting the mythical and nearly extinct snow leopard.

Along the way, they wonder if this quest is not an escape from reality. Why should we fixate on a shy snow leopard in a remote area, while the world is on fire here? Or should we pursue beauty as a tribute, as a way to protect that beauty?
