Shutter Island 2010
In Shutter Island, marshal Teddy Daniels investigates the mysterious disappearance of a patient from a heavily guarded psychiatric facility on a remote island. As a storm cuts the island off from the outside world, Teddy begins to doubt more and more what is real and what is not.
In 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) travels with his partner Chuck to Shutter Island, a remote island off the coast of Massachusetts. There, a heavily guarded psychiatric facility for dangerous criminals is located. A patient has disappeared without a trace, and Teddy is tasked with finding her. But when a storm cuts the island off from the outside world, his investigation begins to raise more and more questions.
Who is telling the truth? Why do the doctors seem to be holding something back? And why is Teddy constantly haunted by memories of his past? Martin Scorsese slowly builds the tension in a paranoid psychological thriller in which reality, memory, and madness increasingly blur. The closer Teddy gets to the truth, the less certain you become of what you are seeing yourself.
