A photo exhibition by Museum Rotterdam and Rotterdam City Archives in the Maastunnel about forty women who have been (or are) of special significance to Rotterdam.
Museum Rotterdam and the Rotterdam City Archives present the photo exhibition 'Rotterdam Women Who Made It'. Portraits of forty Rotterdam women who have made a special contribution in the cultural, social, political and sporting fields are displayed along the escalators of the Maastunnel. The exhibition not only highlights their impact on the city, but is also a tribute to their perseverance. Moreover, the exhibition aims to inspire and make a broad audience aware of the power and significance of these women for Rotterdam, both then and now.
The exhibition portrays forty historical and contemporary women. The biographies accompanying the portraits reveal their motivations, ideals and impressive achievements. What connects them is their determination to follow their own path, despite the obstacles and challenges they encountered along the way. Some even paid the highest price for it. At the same time, this is only a selection: Rotterdam has many more women who deserve a place in the Maastunnel! Their stories are still waiting to be told, and this exhibition is an incentive to continue to recognize and celebrate their impact.
