This concert program connects Rotterdam with New York. Music by American and Dutch composers—including Rotterdam and New York—from classical music to Wynton Marsalis, highlights the historical connection between the two cities.
On April 9th and 11th, Rotterdam will sound like never before. With this program, Lola Descours, the new artistic director of RCMS, will celebrate her new hometown: a global port, a bridge to elsewhere, this time towards New York.
Expect a vibrant encounter between American and Dutch composers, with a strong emphasis on Rotterdam and New York artists. Classical works from both countries will be interspersed with a swinging composition by Wynton Marsalis. The program's title refers to the Holland-America Line, deeply rooted in the city's DNA.
In the year the US celebrates 250 years of independence, seven musicians, including two young talents, bring the centuries-old connection between the two countries to life. A musical journey across the ocean, without leaving the city.
