Peter Goedhart and Erik van der Kroft present a program centered on the romantic spirit of life. They take you on a musical, dramatic, and playful journey to Southern Spain and France. Discover the world of Federico Garcia Lorca (1898–1936), the great Spanish poet who created a lasting monument to the Spanish Gitanos with his 'Romancero Gitano'. These sketches from the life of the Spanish Gitano community highlight their sense of beauty and their awareness of the influence of dark forces. The 'Romancero Gitano' is an artistic highlight of the Spanish poetry world.

Meeting of poetic giants

Mikis Theodorakis (1925-2021), the Greek musician and composer, recognized the power of Lorca's work and set the 'Romancero Gitano' to music. Despite living in different eras, they created this masterpiece together. Additionally, you will immerse yourself in the world of Léo Ferré (1916-1993), the idiosyncratic chansonnier, writer, composer, and chronicler of Parisian artistic life. He wrote famous works such as 'Paris Canaille', 'Avec le temps', 'La vie d'Artiste', and 'Saint Germain des Prés'. His numerous chansons, songs, and symphonies range from charming to bitter and dramatic. Peter Goedhart, singer and writer, dedicated a large part of his activities to music theater, including the 'Watermuziek' programs in collaboration with the Luxor Theater. Erik van der Kroft, pianist, arranger, composer, and philosopher, specializes in accompaniment and has worked on film music and theater projects. Together, they have formed a close-knit team for over 30 years.
