Our Spills

An evening about spills, traces left behind, and unintended stories. Through an interactive exhibition, Orla Kelly's collection is explored, raising questions about the impact of waste, but also about how something temporary can emerge from something lasting. In the setting of BAR OMI, the search for imperfections and unintended traces in the space begins. “As a reliably clumsy person, for five years I have photographed everything I have accidentally spilled, not because any individual spill seemed significant, but because significance began to emerge through repetition. This has resulted in a collection, a digital archive of photographs of spillages, each with short captions. In my archive of spills, mistakes, interruptions, and fleeting moments accumulate into an alternative record of mundancy and time.”, Orla Kelly
