Come to Kunstinstituut Melly on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for the opening of You will find us in the best places, a major retrospective exhibition by Moshekwa Langa.

Retrospective exhibition Moshekwa Langa

Kunstinstituut Melly presents 'You will find us in the best places' from 24 October 2026 to 22 August 2027, a retrospective exhibition by Moshekwa Langa. The exhibition covers all four floors of Kunstinstituut Melly and shows Langa’s work from 1995 to 2026. This is the most complete presentation of his work in the Netherlands to date, curated by Gabi Ngcobo, director of Kunstinstituut Melly, and co-curator Kabelo Malatsie.

Works in various media

Moshekwa Langa works with diverse media, such as drawings, collages, video and installations. He uses everyday materials that he collects in places where he has lived or travelled. He combines these materials with phrases, names and song lyrics from memories and specific moments. This results in layered works that you can see as fictions or dream worlds, in which events and people from reality are incorporated. Ideas recur and develop further in his work. The exhibition 'You will find us in the best places' offers you the opportunity to view Langa’s oeuvre from the past 30 years. The exhibition connects recurring themes and questions in his work.
