Mulholland Drive 2001
In the trippy Mulholland Drive, the naive Betty arrives in Los Angeles, determined to break through as an actress.
After a car accident, she meets Rita, a mysterious woman who has lost her memory. Together they try to find out who Rita is, but their search leads them deeper and deeper into a dark world of Hollywood, hidden desires and semi-criminal film moguls.
Slowly, the two women lose their grip on themselves, reality and their dreams. David Lynch distorts time and space and constantly shifts between dream and reality, causing every clue to raise new questions. With a hypnotic mix of film noir, romance, crime and surrealism, Lynch creates a Hollywood in which nothing is what it seems. Awarded the prize for Best Director in Cannes and featuring the iconic music of Angelo Badalamenti.
