Moeder Aarde - Aluin
A divine climate comedy about hot flashes
Mother Earth, Gaia, invites the Greek gods to an elaborate dinner. Lately, she has been experiencing constant hot flashes and mood swings. One moment she wakes up dripping with sweat, the next she is freezing cold, only to cry uncontrollably or have anger surge through her body from the depths of her being.
Aren't gods immortal? Or has her time come after all? It is a crisis, a climate crisis. The table is set for gods and titans. They gather to find out who they can hold responsible.
This divine comedy is inspired by a sign held by young activists during a climate demonstration: “My mother is already hot enough.” A sentence that resonated with creators Victorine Plante (director) and Erik Snel (text). Because it is about our Mother Earth getting warmer and warmer, and about a generation that feels things must change. From that single sentence grew the idea for a divine comedy about gods and humans, their good intentions and their spectacular ability to make a mess of things.
